Celebrity Tennis Exhibition: MARTINA NAVRATILOVA vs MONICA SELES.

June 18, 2007 09:26 AM

Tennis stars Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles will play an exhibition tennis match presented by Bruno and Bruno Trial Lawyers on September 14th at the New Orleans Arena. The match will be the best two out of three sets followed by a mixed doubles match with ESPN commentator Luke Jensen and a pro circuit player.
A concert performed by talented and well known performer Theresa Andersson will follow the tennis match. The event will raise funds for the American Cancer Society, NORD (New Orleans Recreation Department), Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and New Orleans Recovery School District.

Martina Navratilova won a remarkable 52 Grand Slam titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, and reached a career high in singles and doubles of # 1 in the world. She won her last doubles match in 2006 in Strasbourg with Lisa Huber. Martina won 344 titles throughout her illustrious career. Her opponent Monica Seles dominated women’s tennis in the 90's with her powerful two-fisted forehand and also reached the # 1 ranking in the world in singles. She won 53 tour events and 9 grand slam titles. For more information click here.

Concert by THERESA ANDERSSON

New Orleans music darling Theresa Andersson is best known for her contagious and radiant musical energy. That infectious presence has earned her the reputation, and multiple awards, as Best Female Performer/Violin Player/Singer in New Orleans for the past 10 years - which is no small feat amidst the rich musical Diaspora of the Big Easy. Perhaps it's her genuine voice, which often draws comparisons to Emmylou Harris, Aretha Franklin, and Dusty Springfield that won New Orleans over. Or perhaps it's her unique violin style, or maybe even her Swedish beauty, that caused New Orleans to fall in love with her.

With an upcoming tour of the Southeast and a new EP that was the third highest selling CD at the 2006 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Theresa stands today on the tipping point of real stardom. And she has the music credibility to back it up - having sat in with rock legends David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood and Brian May, in addition to the Neville Brothers and members of the Meters.
