Bobby Reynolds Competes Hard in California Challenger

June 11, 2007 01:35 PM

On June 5-10 Sunset Moulding/ Yuba City Racquet Club hosted their annual $50,000 challenger tournament in Yuba City, CA. Thirty-two top performing players from across the world competed in this year’s tournament in hopes to further advance their professional careers.

Bobby Reynolds, an Acworth, GA resident, had an impressive run but fell just short of the tournament victory. Reynolds, the fourth-seed, lost in the finals of a 3-set battle to top-seeded Kevin Kim. Kim, who is currently 110 in the ATP rankings, topped Reynolds 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

The 22-year-old tennis phenom is a former Vanderbilt All-American who turned pro in 2003 after his junior year of college. This year he won three matches to qualify into the main draw of the 2005 Australian Open and advanced all the way to the third round of the tournament. Reynolds ended 2004 ranked 288th in the world and is now listed at No. 189.
