HEAD Announces Extreme Technology for the Court

May 8, 2007 09:32 AM

HEAD Racquet Sports introduces the Extreme Pro, a new tennis racquet that offers aggressive players ultimate control through new technology called MicroGEL. The new technology maximizes the responsive qualities of the racquet to create a rock solid feel and explosive spin.

After extensive research, HEAD focused on the needs of the pro player by combining a new space-age material with stiff and strong carbon composite. On ball impact, HEAD MicroGEL uniformly distributes the impact load around the frame to provide a rock-solid feel and unique touch for ultimate control, without compromising power.

“Our unique approach to technology and innovation sets us apart in the industry,” said Johan Eliasch, CEO of HEAD N.V. “Extreme Pro is a direct result of studying a racquet’s physical reaction to ball impact.”

HEAD professional player Ivan Ljubicic was instrumental throughout the development process and his feedback was incredibly valuable in constructing and designing the new racquet. Ljubicic won the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2007 in Doha playing with the Extreme Pro.

“HEAD’s Extreme Pro exceeded all my expectations,” said Ljubicic. “The power is incredible and I still have better control over the ball – even in extreme situations.”

The new geometry of the Extreme Pro line gives the racquets a wider playing area for maximum spin.

HEAD will introduce two racquets in the Extreme Pro line that will be available in pro/specialty and sporting goods stores in the spring of 2007.
