Newly Created "Ginepri Fund" Offers Support to Atlanta Youth Tennis

April 25, 2007 10:23 PM

USTA Atlanta announced the creation of "The Ginepri Fund" which recognizes ATP Tour star and Atlanta resident Robby Ginepri for his support of their Atlanta Youth Tennis Foundation. "The Ginepri Fund" was created to honor, thank and recognize Ginepri for his years of ongoing support of the Foundation. Ginepri joined the advisory board of AYTF in 2004.

“Robby’s support has been overwhelming with donations of equipment, clothing, funding and his time,” explained Matt Olson, USTA Atlanta Executive Director. “He adds a special element to our Foundation that means the world to our kids.”

The Ginepri Fund will provide assistance for a variety of projects, including tennis and non-tennis community based initiatives in addition to support for inner city youth tennis players who show a financial need and dedication to academic excellence.

"Robby has enjoyed a longstanding and successful relationship with AYTF,” said Kelly Wolf, Director of Client Management Services. “He is genuinely excited about the establishment of the ‘The Ginepri Fund’ as numerous Atlanta area children will benefit from all the programs the Fund will create.”

The unveiling of the logo and the first donation was celebrated with an appearance by Ginepri at the PGA Tour Superstore in Duluth on Monday, April 23rd at 4:00 PM.

Ginepri turned professional in 2001 and has been ranked as high as #15 in the world. At the 2005 US Open, Ginepri battled his way to the semifinals where he lost to the legendary Andre Agassi in a five set classic. Ginepri has been a member of the U.S. Davis Cup team, captured ATP Tour titles in Indianapolis (2005), where he defeated top seed Andy Roddick, and in Newport, Rhode Island (2003). Ginepri is a resident of Kennesaw, Georgia, and he and his family own Olde Towne Athletic Club in Marietta. His official website is www.robbyginepri.com.

The Atlanta Youth Tennis Foundation began in 1998 and has grown to involve over 3,000 children at 25 participating sites. The Foundation partners with Youth Incorporated and is supported by the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation and the USTA Tennis & Education Foundation. The mission of the Atlanta Youth Tennis Foundation is to give as many children as possible a safe haven after school and during the summer, where they can learn and benefit from the skills derived from the game of tennis. The program also offers computer instruction, mentoring and counseling. The official website is www.aytf.usta.com.
