USTA Member Appreciation Day Visits Family Circle Cup

April 13, 2007 09:23 AM
USTA Members lined up on Wednesday afternoon between matches at the Family Circle Cup as the USTA Southern Section hosted the 2007 USTA Member Appreciation Day as part of the Family Day festivites. The USTA Southern Section held a Member Appreciation Party in the hospitality area, complete with food, drink and plenty of free prizes to go around. Bob Pfeiffer of the Low Country Tennis Association and the USTA Southern Section ran the show, and it was without a doubt a smashing success.

Over 520 card-carrying USTA members attended the party, and took advantage of the opportunity to get a snack, USTA Member gift and hear from USTA touring professional, Abigail Spears. Former French Open Doubles Champion Murphy Jensen was on hand to raffle prizes, sign autographs, and offer a few laughs to the audience.

Family Day festivities continued with a 36'-60' demonstration and drills on the Prince Showcase courts in which dozens of youngsters had the chance to get on court and hit tennis balls. USTA Southern offered face painting for the kids before stepped on the court to practice their skills. Parents had the opportunity to peruse the MatchPoint Marketplace and check out various vendor booths onsite. The AT&T Fan Zone offered trivia, games and a nightly fashion show that presented an exciting line of tennis outfits and active wear clothing featuring brands such as Nike, Adidas, Fila, and Logo modeled by local tennis players.

With all of the activities on the grounds, the Family Circle Cup had something to offer for all ages. The lineup of exceptional women's tennis was clearly an added bonus.
