SportSouth Set to Air "Matchpoint Southeast"

January 22, 2007 09:05 AM
The creators of "Matchpoint Atlanta" and "Matchpoint America" will partner with the SportSouth regional sports network to air "Matchpoint Southeast" this summer, Batten Communications announced today.

The weekly half-hour program will air in more than 8 million southeastern homes on both cable and satellite each weekend, beginning May 26, 2007 and concluding after the US Open in September. The regionalized program will highlight tennis events, players and tournaments happening around the Southeast.

"There are more tennis players in the southeastern US than anywhere in the country and SportSouth's large footprint is right at the heart of that action," said Jeff Batten, creator and producer of Matchpoint television and radio. "We're excited that SportSouth sees tennis as an important part of their programming mix."

Batten Communications, Inc. will also begin its ninth season of Matchpoint Atlanta on 11alive/NBC, Matchpoint America on The Tennis Channel and Matchpoint Radio on Atlanta's 790thezone.

USTA Southern Section marketing director Bill Oakes will continue to host the weekly program.

SportSouth reaches about 8.2 million cable and satellite subscribers in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and parts of North Carolina.
