November 1, 2006 12:44 PM Tweet   The 800 mixed doubles league players representing 30,000 local players thoroughly enjoyed the southern hospitality served in Cary, NC for the 2006 USTA League Tennis Southern Sectional Mixed Doubles Championships! A gorgeous 30 court headquarter facility at Cary Tennis Park provided the backdrop to great matches involving 80 State Champion teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The players enjoyed a spectacular party at the KOLA Booth Ampitheatre at Regency Park. Many thanks to Robin Jones for her wonderful decorations, USTA cake and delicious food. Robin was also instrumental in securing local broadcast media and newspaper coverage and an article in a monthly magazine.

The players were awestruck at the incredible headquarter facility Cary Tennis Park with 30 hard courts and beautiful expansive landscaping, terraces and bridges.

Southern’s team to run the event included Dodie Hanchett (Chairman of the Sectional Championships Subcommittee and Adult League Committee member) Referees extraordinaire Pat Staley and Mary Anna Scott from Columbia, SC, Dene Owen (Adult Events Coordinator), Becky McPhee (Website), Mickey Menna (Tournament Staff in Charge of Weather) and Marilyn Sherman (Director of Adult Tennis).
