McEnroe chases Courier as the Race for #1 Continues This Fall in Outback Champions Series Events in Charlotte and Memphis!

September 20, 2006 09:18 AM
The fall season of the Outback Champions Series kicks off in the USTA Southern Section on September 20-24 with the Championships at the Palisades in Charlotte, NC. Some of tennis' all time greats will converge to battle it out in a five day round-robin tournament for Champions Series Rankings points
and the $48,000 first prize. After two exciting Outback Champions Series events in Naples and Boston earlier this year, the tennis legends will bring their competitive best to the courts at the Palisades, each vying for the coveted year end #1 ranking. Leading the field in Charlotte is Jim Courier, who is currently ranked #1 and will square off against John McEnroe (#2), Pat Cash (#4), Petr Korda (#10), Mikael Pernfors (#5) and Aaron Krickstein (#6), plus 2 players to be named. Matches start at 1:30pm and 6:30pm and tickets are available by calling 877-332-TIXX or logging on to www.championsseriestennis.com.

The Outback Champions Series action rages on in the USTA Southern Section in Memphis on October 4-8 at the Stanford Championships on the hard courts of the Racquet Club of Memphis. The lineup includes Courier, McEnroe, Cash, Krickstein and Pernfors in addition to Mats Wilander, Petr Korda and one champion to be named.

To compete in the Outback Champion Series, players must have reached a Grand Slam singles final, been ranked in the top five in the world or played singles on a championship Davis Cup team. Matches start at 1:30pm and 6:30pm and tickets are available by calling 901-765-4474 or logging on to championsseriestennis.com.
