The International Hispanic Games will consist of a 5 sport festival for Hispanic Amateur athletes of all ages and abilities. This first ever event of its kind in the country will feature baseball, basketball, boxing, soccer, and tennis. This historic event will occur Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-28, 2006). The festival will take place at various venues in the greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.
In 2006, the tennis tournaments will guarantee each player more matches in a shorter amount of time. The winter, Hispanic and summer competitions will be utilizing the “Super Set Format” used by several pro events. State Games tournaments will be sanctioned. Participants are guaranteed 3-4 matches (1 eight-game pro set) per match with a 12 pt. tie-breaker, play will be continuous for three or four matches which may take two to three hours. Brackets are limited to 8 or 16 players per division – sign-up early to assure participation, awards will follow each division.
