Julie Ditty Part of Winning Doubles Team at Troy Tournament

October 10, 2005 09:30 AM

The USTA Southern Section’s Julie Ditty of Ashland, KY was part of the winning doubles team at the USTA Women’s Classic of Troy last week. Ditty and teammate Milagros Sequera from Venezuela were ranked #1 in the doubles tournament. The team was strong through out the week and beat Salome Devidze and Mandy Minella in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the finals.

Play began on Sunday with the singles championship that was won by American Ahsha Rolle followed by the doubles semi-final match that took place to decide who would take on Ditty and Sequera. After Devidze and Minella beat Maria Fernandez Alves and Ahsha Rolle, they had some time to rest before they moved on to the finals. When the finals began, Ditty and Sequera proved to be overpowering and dominated the match for the victory.
