The Ashland Tennis Center will be hosting a USTA Pro Women’s Circuit Event in Ashland, KY beginning September 26 through October 2, 2005. The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic will feature $50,000 in prize money. The event is presented by Jack Ditty, MD. The inaugural tournament was held in 2004 and won by Maria Emilia Salerni who defeated Kelly McCain.

A Junior Pro-Am is scheduled for September 25 from 6-8pm and the Adult Pro-Am will begin play on September 26 from 6-8pm. Tuesday, September 27th will feature the “Opening Ceremonies” for the event at 4pm followed by the feature match of the day at 4:30. At 6:30pm guests will be treated with the music of the Folk band Wiley Dew at the Ashland Tennis Center. On Wednesday, the Ashland area Art Gallery will be on hand to host an Art Show and Contest presented by Dr. Glenn Spradlin. The Zanter Trio Jaxx Band will be there and hors de hovers will be served.

On Friday, a World Team Exhibition match will take place at 6pm; refreshments will be served provided by Ashland Alliance. The Community Trust Bank Finals will be held on Sunday, October 2nd, sponsored by Alltel, starting at 1pm for the doubles match with the singles immediately following.

Ashland native Julie Ditty who is currently touring on the women’s pro tennis circuit will be playing at this event; she is the daughter of Dr. Jack Ditty.

Also representing the USTA Southern Section are Dundwoody, GA resident Lindsay Lee-Waters and Gastonia, NC resident Cory-Ann Avants.
