2005 USTA Tennis & Education Foundation College Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to the 2005 USTA Tennis & Education Foundation College Scholarship Recipients!! This year, the USTA T&EF awarded seven scholarships to deserving youngsters from the Southern Section who have participated in USTA and other organized youth tennis programs.

The USTA Tennis & Education Foundation (USTA T&EF), is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life among our nation’s youth. The mission of the USTA T&EF states that it encourages children to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in school and becoming responsible citizens. The USTA T&EF supports organizations that use tennis as a vehicle to help youngsters finish high school and qualify for college scholarships. The USTA T&EF targets youngsters from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

The below awards were given to the following Southern juniors:

The USTA Tennis & Education Foundation College Education Scholarship Award
Awarded to graduating seniors who participated extensively in USA School Tennis, USA Team Tennis, USA High Performance, or NJTL.

  • Brad Lawrence, Lexington, KY
  • Taylor Mattox, Statesville, SC
  • Chi Nguyen, Savannah, GA

The Mass Mutual Scholarship Award
Awarded to graduating high school seniors who show academic excellence, community service, and leadership.

  • Shivani Gupta, Evans, GA
  • Fan Yang, Homewood, AL

The USTA Tennis & Education Foundation College Textbook Scholarship
Provides a $500 scholarship for textbooks for one year.

  • Matthew Sipes, Mt. Sterling, KY

USA Tennis Foundation Incentive Awards
Funding to help pay for lesson and tournament fees for present or former USTA junior program players who are middle school or high school players with strong values and personal character and who require some financial assistance.
