USTA Kentucky Night at Louisville Bats Baseball

April 8, 2005 10:52 AM

USTA Kentucky is excited about May being Tennis Month. There will be plenty of tennis going on around the state, but one celebration won't be on the tennis court. USTA Kentucky will celebrate in the stands of Slugger Field, home of the Louisville Bats, for USTA Kentucky Night on Friday, May 13!

Susan Habeeb, Incoming President of the USTA Kentucky Board was the brains behind the up the idea to help celebrate USA Tennis Month and she was met by enthusiastic support along the way.

“It’ll be a great way for tennis players to build camaraderie off the tennis court,” said Julie Pek, Executive Director of USTA Kentucky, “I’m really excited about the event.”

Laine Hamman, Director of Marketing and Promotions commented, “This will be fantastic to promote tennis to a family oriented, sport minded crowd. It fits perfectly with the timing of Louisville Tennis Association’s Welcome To Tennis event on Saturday, May 14th. We’re also working with the Lexington Legends in hopes of having a USTA Kentucky Night at one of their games.”

A representative from USTA Kentucky will throw the first pitch to begin the game at 7:15pm. There will be a table in the concourse providing USTA membership information, local program sign-ups, and giveaways. Other promotions at the game include a Meijer/Bats trucker hats giveaway to the first 2,500 at the game, Jake the Diamond Dog, and fireworks after the game.

Discounted tickets are available through the USTA Kentucky office for $5 with your USTA Membership card (regular $7 at the gate). Please contact Betsy Harned toll-free at 888-582-8674 for more ticket or event information.
