Early Founder of USTA League Tennis in Middle States Honored

Jackie Kimball, who today lives in Seabrook Island, S.C. has been named the recipient of the USTA's Middle States Section's inaugural Carol Strasser Award for service to the USTA League program. The wife of past U.S. Davis Cup committee co-chairman Warren Kimball, Jackie was one of the founders of the USTA's tennis leagues while serving for 17 years as the Middle States' league coordinator.

She started the Middle States League in 1977 that later became one of the pilots for the national tennis leagues. The Kimballs traveled last week to Princeton, N.J., to attend the meeting of the Middle States Section, which encompasses Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
