Health Benefits of Tennis Make USTA Southern Section and HealthScreen America Partnership a Natural Fit

March 15, 2004 05:11 PM

The USTA Southern Section is excited to announce a timely new partnership with HealthScreen America, a leader in predictive medical screening. With this partnership, all USTA Southern Section Members are eligible to receive a 25% discount off of the price of any HealthScreen America service.

Located in Atlanta, GA, HealthScreen America offers several predictive health-screening packages designed to identify the risk level and early stages of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and other diseases. The two most requested screenings include virtual colonoscopy – a non-invasive screening for colon cancer – and a heart calcification study to check for blockage in your arteries. Dedicated to spreading the message that screening saves lives, HealthScreen America launched a Prevention Partners Program earlier this month in support of Colon Cancer Awareness Month and the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Greg Grover, tennis teaching professional and owner / vice president of the Windward Lake Club in Alpharetta, GA, recently went through a personal screening at HealthScreen America and offered this glowing testimonial.

“I was very impressed with the level of professionalism at HealthScreen America,” says Grover. “The staff made me feel at ease and the results were presented in a timely manner, making it simple for me to take them to my primary care doctor for further discussion. I think the health aspects associated with tennis make a USTA Southern Section and HealthScreen America partnership a natural fit.”

“HealthScreen America hopes to simplify and systemize preventive health care through a new approach known as Personal Health Mapping,” explains HealthScreen America’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Randy Cronic. “Whether you are in your 30s, 40s, 50s or older, HealthScreen America believes it is never too late or too early to put a preventive maintenance process in place to safeguard yourself from major disease and illness. Unlike a car, we don’t come with an owner’s manual to guide us through the process of preventive maintenance for our bodies. Although we follow a standard pediatric examination process for young children, as adults we get away from the idea of regular health check-ups and screenings. At HealthScreen, we’ve developed a simple and convenient approach for people to proactively protect their health.”

HealthScreen America, a predictive medicine facility in Atlanta, GA, is committed to helping patients identify the risk level and early stages of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and other diseases, empowering them to be more proactive in their health management. HealthScreen America uses a combination of ultrasound, computed tomography and lab work to uncover hidden diseases. Founded in 1881, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in this country. In addition to owning the US Open and selecting members of the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Olympic and Paralympic teams, the USTA administers a variety of programs nationwide for players of all ages and ability levels. A not-for-profit organization, the association is divided into 17 sections, of which the USTA Southern Section is the largest. The 168,000 USTA members living in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee make up the USTA Southern Section, and account for approximately 25% of the total USTA membership. A professional staff housed in Norcross, GA carries out the USTA Southern Section’s daily operations, but policy is formed and much of the organization’s work is executed via a Board and committee structure of over 200 volunteers.
