Brian Baker, Andres Pedroso, Levar Harper-Griffith, Michael Joyce and Huntley Montgomery will be among the players in action when singles and doubles first-round play begins at the 2003 Newton Cox Men's Professional Tennis Classic in Mobile, AL.
Pedroso, the No. 6 seed from Coral Gables, Fla., will face wild card Josh Cohen of Weston, Fla. Harper-Griffith, from Sarasota, Fla., will meet Marcus Sarstrand of Sweden. California native Joyce will battle fourth seed Jean-Julien Rojer. And Montgomery, of Charlottesville, Va., will play Raven Klaasen of South Africa.
Baker and partner Travis Rettenmaier will take on James Auckland and W.P. Meyer in Doubles in the Finals of the Qualifying round match for the chance to compete in the main doubles draw. Baker will also face Russian, and fellow Wild Card, Clinton Jacobs in the first round in Singles.
In the two remaining singles matches, No. 3 seed Juan-Pablo Guzman of Argentina will take on Nicolas Todero of Argentina, and Pedro Braga of Brazil will go against Frank Moser of Germany.
