Fast4 Championships / NTRP Southern Qualifying Championships

Every year, USTA Southern hosts four championships in an exciting format: Fast4! Play is in two age levels: 18 & over and 50 & over. Championships winners get their hands on the "golden ticket" to the nationals.

The NTRP Nationals Championships are national adult tournaments that leverage the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & over and 50 & over age groups. Each year, NTRP National Champions are crowned in men’s and women’s singles and doubles at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 levels in both 18 & over and 50 & over age groups, as well as at the 5.0 level in the 18 & over division. Champions will receive 300 STA points towards their Southern ranking. Click here for more information on the national championships.

We will be announcing the four NTRP Southern Qualifying Championships for 2020 at a later date.

The shortened format for each set offers a “fast” alternative to tennis, with four points, four games, and five rules:

  1. No-ad scoring is used
  2. Service lets are played
  3. Tie-breaks are played at three games all
  4. The first to four games wins the set
  5. Best 2-out-of-3 Fast4 sets will be used with Match Tiebreak in lieu of 3rd Fast4 set

By using the innovative Fast4 format, the NTRP Southern Qualifiers have become the fastest growing Southern championships. Fast4 format gives players more matches in less time, allows tournaments to take only one or two days, and players have loved the exciting fast pace of the matches.
