USTA SC partners with Governor

Governor Nikki Haley is a tennis fan and showed her talents off at the Barnwell County Bash this past weekend at Barnwell High School in Barnwell, SC.  This event was the fifth community day The Original Six Foundation organized as a part of a major statewide initiative that helps provide the tools and resources needed for challenged South Carolina communities to grow economically.  The foundation provided a variety of components and resources that were determined by local leaders in Barnwell County.  Activities included a health fair, job fair, sporting opportunities, and free food.  Fifty children in attendance were able to play on court with USTA SC’s Victoria Smith.   It is the hope of USTA SC to develop a local tennis program to participate in.   Several volunteer connections were made and we look forward to introducing USTA programs to Barnwell County in the very near future.
