2007 Award - Southern Wheelchair Player of the Year

Wheelchair Player of the Year Award
Awarded annually to a wheelchair player in the Southern Section who has shown outstanding on-court ability, sportsmanship and community service.

Kevin Green
Murfreesboro, TN
Kevin Green, a senior at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), shows great promise on and off the tennis courts. The St. Louis native captured the singles and doubles title at the 2007 USTA/ITA National Collegiate Wheelchair Championships last March in Louisville, KY. Green took out teammate Michael Paul in the singles final 6-3, 6-2. It was Green’s first title at the Championships, after three straight years of final showings.

During his four years at MTSU, Kevin never lost a doubles match and claimed four consecutive titles. Kevin also won the USTA U.S. Open Double’s Title in the Men’s A Division in September 2007.

Kevin served as the President of the Wheelchair Sports Club and at MTSU. His duties included organizing team travel, match scheduling, wheelchair sports education, recruiting, and fundraising. In addition to representing MTSU in wheelchair and able-bodied tournaments, Kevin participated and organized wheelchair leagues and exhibitions in Murfreesboro, TN and St. Louis, MO.
