USTA Southern Director of Adult Tennis
Job Description:
1. Direct efforts in administration and promotion of adult league programs in USTA Southern - USTA League Tennis (Adult, Senior, Mixed Doubles, Super Seniors Divisions), USTA Southern Combo Doubles, Tri Level Leagues and Flex Leagues in cooperation with State League Coordinators.
2. Communicate with national, sectional, state, and local staff and volunteers. Duties include administration, promotion, training, and evaluation. Scope of position includes servicing the section’s adult membership (138,000) in leagues, tournaments and recreation programs. League registrations in 2010 surpassed 286,000 and adult tournament participation resulted in almost 30,000 matches. 128 cities in the South offer local league programs. Numerous state and section championships are held each year.
3. Manage adult and senior recreation and competitive programs in USTA Southern Section - Senior Cup Team Championships, Intersectional Teams, Adult Rankings, Southern Championships. Duties include administration and event management with assistance from the Managing Director of Adult Events.
4. Some travel required along with the supervision of a staff of 1-3 additional employees and working with a large volunteer management and support network across 9 states.

POSITION REPORTS TO: USTA Southern Section Tennis Service Representative (TSR)
Part-time, 27 hours per week
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
Responsible for the administration & promotion of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) 10 and Under Tennis Initiative and its potential partnerships and programs in the Louisville Metropolitan Area including Jefferson, Oldham, and Bullitt counties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – High school diploma.
• EXPERIENCE – Proven experience in a service and/or marketing related field. Community service/development environment preferred. Experience with local schools (public and/or private), park and recreation departments, and youth organizations preferred.
• SKILLS – Strong written and oral communication skills. Motivated self-starter. Punctual and well organized. Comfortable creating and delivering presentations to groups of all sizes. Basic to intermediate computer skills with a specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic knowledge of the tennis industry preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS – Ability to schedule, facilitate, and conduct appropriate meetings and communications with area organizations and facilities pertinent to 10 and Under Tennis Initiative in the Louisville Metro Area. Attendance required at all meetings with USTA Southern Section supervisor and meetings with USTA Kentucky, USTA Southern, and USTA pertaining to the 10 and Under Tennis Initiative. Some travel outside of the Louisville Metro area for training/workshops. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR LOUISVILLE METRO 10 AND UNDER TENNIS COORDINATOR
• Develop and promote the USTA 10 and Under Tennis Initiative in the Louisville Metro Area through cooperative efforts with the TSR, USTA Kentucky, local coordinators, organizations, and facilities.
• Identify schools, churches, youth organizations, park and recreation agencies, as well as private and public tennis facilities to develop partnerships.
• Work with USTA National Trainers and USTA Southern and USTA Kentucky staff to deliver training opportunities to school physical education providers (USTA In-service Program), parents, program providers, and teaching professionals (Recreational Coaches Workshops) and QuickStart Tennis Recreational Workshops) in support of the 10 and under initiative.
• Work with the above mentioned groups to provide a complete developmental and play/competition pathway for all interested 10 and under area youth via carnivals, festivals, school assemblies, play days, afterschool programs, instructional programs, USTA Jr. Team Tennis programs and junior tournaments, etc.
• Develop a complete database of potential partners, program providers, and all participants.
• Work with area USTA Jr. Team Tennis Coordinators and local tennis providers to synthesize marketing and training efforts.
• Work with local Community Tennis Associations (CTAs) and their partners to maximize awareness of 10 and Under Tennis Initiative via local media; newspapers, television, radio, websites and other partner media outlets.
• Work with area civic groups and potential partners to promote awareness of the 10 and Under Initiative.
• Attend all pertinent meetings and provide a report of ongoing activity as required.
• Work with TSR and USTA Kentucky to formulate short term and long term goals as well as a strategic plan to reach the goals.
• Attend all available training opportunities to enhance knowledge base of the USTA 10 and Under Initiative.
• Become a local expert on the 10 and Under Tennis Initiative.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Tennis Service Representative.

USTA Arkansas
Position Title: Executive Director
Position Description
The Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer of the Arkansas Tennis Association (ATA). Overall, the Executive Director is responsible for achieving the overall mission of the ATA: promote and develop the growth of tennis in Arkansas. In order to achieve this mission, the Executive Director works closely with the ATA President and Executive Board, and directs and supervises the employees of the ATA in order to implement and operate programs designed to increase all aspects of tennis within the State. Within Arkansas, the Executive Director works with outside entities including the Arkansas Tennis Patrons Foundation, community tennis associations and tennis professionals to develop and enhance tennis programs in the State. In addition, in partnership with the City of North Little Rock and through the Facility Manager, the Executive Director oversees the operations of the Burns Park Tennis Facility. The Arkansas Tennis Association is one of nine state associations within the USTA Southern Section. The ATA Executive Director is expected to develop professional relationships with the Executive Directors of the other USTA Southern districts and to work closely with USTA and USTA Southern staff with the objective of growing the game of tennis in Arkansas.
Major Duties
1. Manage and supervise ATA staff to insure that goals and objectives established by the ATA Executive Committee and Board of Directors are met. Included under this duty are the responsibilities for maintaining ATA employee records (e.g., leave requests, compensation records, etc.), recruiting and training new staff, and annual performance reviews.
2. Conduct the financial management of the ATA in order to assure that the monetary and physical assets of the ATA are safeguarded. Duties include development of the annual budget, recording of PBIF numbers, and oversight of ATA investments.
3. Inform the President and Executive Committee of activities of staff and other components of the ATA. Provide administrative support to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and other ATA Committees.
4. Act as a liaison between the ATA and our parent organizations, the USTA and USTA Southern, as well as Arkansas Community Tennis Associations (CTA). Duties include attending semi-annual and annual meetings of both the USTA and USTA Southern, other National and Sectional meetings and workshops that are deemed relevant to ATA operations, and periodic visits to Arkansas CTAs. When appropriate, work with the Arkansas Tennis Patrons Foundation on joint projects.
5. Support and serve as referee for ATA sponsored tournaments. Currently, these tournaments include three Adult League mid-season tournaments, eight Adult League State Championships, and the Junior Team Tennis State Championship.
6. Oversee the operations of the Burns Park Tennis Facility. Duties include direct supervision of the Facility Manager and Director of Tennis, preparation and regular review of the budget and financial status, and working with the City of North Little Rock to insure that the Burns Park Tennis Facility is meeting its goals and objectives.
Overall Expectations
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be self motivated, and be able to offer strong leadership for the ATA. He/she must have strong managerial and communication skills in order to direct ATA staff and volunteers so that programs and projects are effectively and efficiently carried out. Strong financial skills are required in order to develop realistic budgets for the ATA and the Burns Park Tennis Facility and to insure that available financial resources are well-utilized. The Executive Director must be able to work with all of the ATA’s diverse constituents and stake-holders, and be able to foster and nurture community partnerships. He/she must be committed to expanding diversity at all levels within the ATA.

Experience in business setting ideally at a managerial level
Experience in tennis management (e.g., tennis facility manager, CTA management, tennis professional, staff in an USTA office)
